12.7% of comparable California homes already have solar, across 31 cities and 459,387 owner-occupied parcels. Broken out by metro, by utility, and by city.
How the numbers are built
Every figure starts from two public sources: the county assessor parcel roll, filtered to owner-occupied single-family homes, and municipal building-permit records filtered to rooftop photovoltaic work. The two are joined on address, then aggregated. Saturation is the share of those parcels carrying at least one solar permit.
Cells covering fewer than 30 parcels are never published, so no statistic can be traced back to an individual household. A city with parcels but no permit records is withheld entirely rather than published as 0% — an ingestion gap is not a market finding.
