Compliance
Boring on purpose.
The solar industry has a trust problem, and lead-gen is where most of it comes from. Here is exactly how KnockGenius handles data, what we will never sell, and what we expect from reps in the field.
What KnockGenius is (and is not)
KnockGenius is a business-to-business sales intelligence service. Our customers are solar sales professionals; our product is territory analytics built from public government records.
We are not a solar contractor. We do not sell, install, finance, maintain, or repair solar energy systems, and nothing on this site is an offer to do so. California solar installation work requires an appropriately licensed contractor (CSLB classification C-46 or equivalent); subscribing reps represent their own companies and licensing arrangements, not ours.
We do not sell homeowner leads, homeowner contact lists, or consumer personal information. There is no consumer lead marketplace on this platform.
Where our data comes from
KnockGenius territory intelligence is derived from public records: county assessor parcel rolls (ownership exemption status, property type, year built, lot characteristics) and municipal building-permit datasets (solar photovoltaic permits). These records are published by government agencies and available to any member of the public.
We do not scrape social media, purchase consumer data-broker files, track devices, or collect information from homeowners directly through this site.
Anything we publish publicly — like city-level solar saturation statistics — is aggregated over at least 30 parcels. We do not publish address-level information on public pages.
Field conduct we require from subscribing reps
Door-to-door selling is regulated, and sloppy field work burns turf for everyone. Subscribers agree to baseline conduct standards as part of our terms:
- Honor no-soliciting signage and local ordinance rules, including municipal canvassing permit requirements where they exist.
- Honor any homeowner opt-out immediately; opted-out addresses are suppressed from all future KnockGenius knock-lists.
- Identify yourself and your company truthfully. No utility impersonation, no 'I'm with a government program' framing, no fake energy audits.
- California is an all-party consent state (Penal Code §632): do not record conversations without clear consent from everyone involved.
- Comply with the three-day right-of-rescission and all disclosure rules applicable to home solicitation sales in California.
Privacy and data handling
Rep account data (name, email, billing) is used to run the service and is never sold. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers.
Outcome notes reps log in the app are private to the rep (and their team, on team plans). We use aggregated, de-identified outcome patterns to improve scoring and coaching.
To exercise any data right — access, correction, deletion — email us. We respond within 30 days.
