Privacy policy

This policy explains how KnockGenius and the KnockGenius Pilot mobile app handle account, field, device, and analytics data.

Effective August 21, 2026 · Last updated August 23, 2026

The short version

We use data to operate the field service, keep outcomes reliable offline, and improve product stability. We do not sell mobile user data, run ads, or upload your foreground location.

Data we handle

Account data includes your name, work email, authentication identifier, account role, and subscription or pilot-access status. KnockGenius does not receive or store the one-time sign-in code sent to you by our authentication provider.

Inquiry data includes information you choose to submit through the application form, free-scan form, website plan qualifier, or KnockGenius ChatGPT plugin: name, business email, optional phone number, company, market or zip code, role, team size, current workflow, desired territory count, purchase timing, plan interest, referral source, and communication consent. We record the source and status of each request so we can respond without creating disconnected duplicate leads.

Field data includes assigned territory and address-level public-record intelligence, outcomes you log, objection categories, confidence ratings, coaching notes, and optional rep notes. If a homeowner expressly consents to follow-up, a rep may also enter that homeowner’s email address or phone number and record the consent status.

Device and operational data may include a randomly generated app device identifier, an Expo push token, device platform, app version, notification category, screen name, limited feature-interaction events, crash diagnostics, and sync success or failure counts.

How we use data

We use account data to authenticate existing customers, enforce territory access, maintain subscriptions or pilot access, provide support, and secure the service.

We use inquiry data to recommend a plan, check territory availability, deliver a requested scan, reply to an application, route the request to our sales workflow, measure conversion performance, and prevent duplicate or abusive submissions. We do not place form values such as email addresses or phone numbers into analytics events.

We use field data to show assigned routes and door intelligence, save and synchronize outcomes, deliver consented follow-up, calculate progress, and provide rep or team coaching. Public KnockGenius pages use only aggregated statistics; they do not publish a rep’s notes, outcomes, or address-level account activity.

We use limited operational data to deliver requested notifications, measure whether core field workflows work, diagnose crashes, prevent duplicate outcome writes, and improve reliability. We do not use mobile data for third-party advertising or sell it.

Location

Location is optional and requested only when you choose Nearest. The app uses the device’s foreground location to sort assigned doors by distance. Your location is not uploaded to KnockGenius, included in analytics, or retained in the field database. Denying permission leaves route order fully available.

Offline storage and security

The mobile app stores assigned territory bundles, outcome drafts, preferences, and queued outcomes in a SQLCipher-encrypted database in the device cache. The encryption key is stored in the device’s secure key store. Network traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.

Cached field access expires 24 hours after the last successful entitlement check. Sign-out or an account switch removes the mobile database and encryption key. Confirmed entitlement loss immediately removes cached territory details, drafts, and nonessential preferences; only queued or failed outcomes remain encrypted for up to 24 hours so they can recover if access is restored.

Service providers

We use service providers only to operate KnockGenius: Clerk for authentication, Convex for application data and synchronization, Expo and Apple or Google for push delivery and app updates, PostHog for restricted product analytics, Sentry for crash and reliability monitoring, Stripe for billing on the KnockGenius website, and Ahrefs for cookieless traffic and crawler measurement on the public marketing site. The Ahrefs tracker does not receive field records, homeowner data, notes, or form values.

Resend delivers requested confirmations and operational email. n8n routes inquiry events to our internal follow-up workflow, and Twilio delivers text messages only to phone numbers with the applicable consent recorded with the request. When you use the KnockGenius ChatGPT plugin, OpenAI processes the conversation under its own terms and sends the inquiry fields you approve to our plugin; KnockGenius stores only the submitted inquiry and its routing metadata.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent records are shared only with service providers that enable KnockGenius messaging, and those providers may use the information only to provide that service.

Web and mobile PostHog events use the Clerk user ID as a pseudonymous identifier after sign-in so product activity can be connected across devices. These events do not include email, address, notes, homeowner contact data, or coordinates. Website session replay is limited to selected public product and pricing pages, masks every form input, and is disabled on application, free-scan, support, policy, demo, report, and authenticated app routes. Mobile session replay, touch autocapture, and GeoIP enrichment remain disabled. Mobile Sentry reports disable default PII and remove request payloads, breadcrumb data, and event extras; the only user context is the Clerk user ID.

Providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments and may process it where they maintain infrastructure. We do not authorize them to use KnockGenius mobile data for their own advertising.

Retention

We retain account and synchronized field data while an account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve security or billing issues, meet legal obligations, and maintain accurate business records. Push tokens are removed when a user signs out when possible, when a device token becomes invalid, or when the account is deleted.

Inquiry and communication-consent records are retained for as long as reasonably needed to fulfill the request, maintain accurate opt-in and opt-out records, prevent duplicate outreach, and meet legal or dispute-resolution obligations. You may ask us to stop marketing email or texts at any time; reply STOP to an automated text to opt out of further automated texts.

When deletion is requested, we delete or de-identify account-linked data unless a limited record must be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, tax, or other legal obligations. Any retained record is limited to that purpose and is not used for product analytics or marketing.

Delete your KnockGenius account and data

The mobile app supports existing accounts only and does not create new accounts. You may request deletion at any time by emailing the address below from the email associated with your KnockGenius account. Use the subject “Delete my KnockGenius account.” We may verify account ownership before completing the request.

A deletion request permanently removes the KnockGenius account and associated user data, subject only to the limited retention obligations described above. Deleting the app from a device does not by itself delete the server account. Cancel any active website subscription separately so future billing stops; support can help with both steps.

Your choices and rights

You can decline location and notification permissions without losing route-order access or outcome logging. You can change those permissions in system settings. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, portability, or deletion of your personal data, or object to certain processing.

Providing a phone number is optional. SMS consent is unchecked by default and is not a condition of purchasing KnockGenius. If you opt in, message frequency varies up to 5 messages per month, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Newsletter consent and SMS consent are separate choices.

KnockGenius does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To submit a privacy request, contact us using the email below. We aim to respond within 30 days and will explain if additional time or identity verification is required.

KnockGenius is a business field tool for solar sales professionals. It is not directed to children, does not offer social-media features, and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised date here and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how we handle personal data.
